Unitech-PA690-Mobile-Computer-Warm-and-Cold-Boot-1A Warm Boot will reboot the unit while leaving applications installed

  1. Use the stylus to hold down the reset button for 3-4 seconds
  2. Release and the system will reboot

Cold Boot the Unitech PA690

There are two procedures for Cold Booting the Unitech PA690.  The first one covered here is the Hardware Cold Boot.  This procedure is used when the handheld is locked up or otherwise not responsive.

Warning:  Cold Booting the PA690 (or pretty much any other mobile computer) will delete all data and applications, returning the PA690 to a factory fresh state.   Try a Warm Boot first if losing the applications is going to be a problem.

Hardware Cold Boot

  1. Make sure a Warm Boot won’t fix the problem.
  2. Hold down the left trigger.
  3. While still holding the left trigger, use the stylus to press the reset button for 3 seconds.
  4. Release and the unit will reboot.

Software Cold Boot

  1. Make sure a Warm Boot won’t fix the problem.
  2. Go to the handheld’s Home Screen.
  3. Scroll down till you find the icon for Boot Mode.  Tap the icon to select.
  4. Boot Mode will then ask you if you want to do a Warm or Cold Boot.
  5. Select Cold Boot.  You will then be asked to confirm.  Select Yes and the unit will Cold Boot
