The Catalyst ConfigTool is an Excel macro driven tool.  What this means for you is that when you start the Catalyst ConfigTool you may need to enable macros.  In order to enable macros perform the following:

Excel 2003 SP3:

If you never see the below Security Warning then Macros have been disabled for your version of Microsoft Excel.  If you are using Microsoft Excel 2003 SP3.  If you’re running an earlier version of Microsoft Excel consult your help files on how to Enable Macros.

On your Menu Bar go to Tools then Macro then Security.

On the Security Level Tab select Medium for your security level.  Press OK and Restart Excel.

Microsoft Excel 2007 SP1/2:

Microsoft Excel 2007 can be set to always allow “Trusted” locations to run.  Below are instructions for enabling macros on a per use basis as well as setting the Catalyst ConfigTool directory as a trusted location so that every time the tool is ran no prompts will appear.

When Excel 2007 first starts a security warning will become visible above the formula bar.  Click Options.

On the “Microsoft Office Security Options” window select Enablethis content.  Excel should ask for macros to be enabled every time the ConfigTool is ran then click OK.  To set the ConfigTool directory as a “Trusted” location click Open the Trust Center.

Once the Trust Center is open select Trusted Locations on the left hand side.

At the bottom of the window on the right hand side select Add new location.

In the “Microsoft Office Trusted Location” window that pops up enter the information exactly as it is below.  Click OK.

The CatalystConfig directory will now be listed as a trusted location.  Next time the tool is ran there will not be a prompt to enable macros.  Click OK on the Trust Center to close then click OK on the Security Warningto start the ConfigTool macros.

Microsoft Excel 2010:

Enable Editing of the docuement by selecting the Enable Edition button in the warning that shows at the top of the spreadsheet.

Select Enable Editing

Select Enable Content in the Security Warning at the top of the spreadsheet.  This will start the ConfigTool and take you to the ConfigTool main menu.

Select Enable Macros

Confused by the different output of Avaya EC quoting tool and the Catalyst Config tool v5.048, for IP Office. EC tool is provisioning 16 port analog trunk card, for (6) analog trunks, the Catalyst tool quotes (2) 4 port trunk cards. Ec is quoting Rel 7 DVD, but Rel 6 licenses. Any ideas/suggestions, which tool should we be quoting and ordering from?

There are many different ways to complete the same configuration. The Catalyst ConfigTool is programmed with price and functionality in mind for the input entered. As far as the codes it sounds like the EC is quoting an R7 unit. Since the license codes were the same between R6 and R7 it may look like an R6 configuration. Which tool you use is a matter of preference but we (Catalyst) would prefer you use ours. :-)

I can open to the main excel page, but it does not give me the “enable content” tab to open the configurator. I’ve deleted and reloaded it several times, to no avail. Any suggestions?

Depending on the version of excel depends on what the next step would be. Please contact Catalyst Tech Support for help getting the macro settings correct.

I’m on Excel 2010. I spoke with Glenn Griffin and he’s referred me back to you. It had been working fine, then just stopped. I’ve already downloaded today’s upgrade, to no avail. Suggestions?

I’m still unable to use my configurator. I don’t get the security warning to click “enable content” on. If it’s a macro issue, I’m not sure how to resolve it, but I really need to be able to use the config tool. Any suggestions?

I am having the same issue as Kirby, can you tell me how you fixed it?

Does it work on a Mac? I have Office for Mac and opened Excel and I can’t get it to work.

I’m having trouble accessing the config tool. I make it to the Macros security screen and allow content. When I enter my login and pw I receive a error as follows:

Compile Error in hidden module: Mod History Settings

Any suggestions?
