With the release of QIC version 12.0, ShoreTel partners have two options for loading their company’s logo to the quotes they create in QIC.  Users have the options of selecting an image during the quote process or to have QIC automatically add the image on every quote.  This article explains how to use both options.

Option 1:  Select logo during quoting process

After populating products that the user wishes to quote in QIC and pressing the Generate Quote button, the user will be asked to select attributes to include on the quote.  Following this, QIC displays the “Additional Information” dialog box seen below.

At the bottom of this dialog box is a field named “Partner Logo Location”.  The user can either type the direct path to the image they wish to use or browse to it by pressing the “…” button.  Most image file formats are supported by Microsoft Excel.  Once the logo path has been entered, the user presses the “Generate Quote” button and QIC will insert the selected logo onto the Quote.

At this point the user can replace the ScanSource Communications or ShoreTel logos with their own, and resize, move, or edit the images before delivering the quote to their customer.

Option 2:  Automatically importing a logo

The second option for inserting a company logo into a QIC quote is to use the LogoPath parameter in the QIC.ini file.  Using this option will result in a specified logo being inserted into every quote created by the user, eliminating the need for them to manually select it each time.  To make use of this parameter, the user will need to locate and edit or create a simple text file named QIC.ini and add this parameter to it.

Note:  QIC.ini is not included with the version of QIC downloaded from ScanSource Communications.  It is expected that the user will create this file if they want to make use of its features.  For more information on QIC.ini, see: Working with QIC.ini

After opening QIC.ini, the user can add a new line using the syntax LogoPath=<path>.  For example,

LogoPath=C:\images\logo.png

Close and save the file.  The supplied LogoPath will now be automatically applied to the “Partner Logo Location” field on the “Additional Information” dialog box during the quote creation process.  Similarly to the first option, the user can replace the ScanSource Communications or ShoreTel logos with their own, and resize, move, or edit the images before delivering the quote to their customer.

In allowing the user to add and edit logos during the quote creation process, QIC enables ShoreTel partners to make professional and deliverable customer quotes quickly and easily.  This is one more way that ScanSource Communications has enabled ShoreTel partners to improve their quoting processes.  If you have feedback on this feature, or ideas for future improvements to QIC please let us know.
