In the past here at ScanSource we’ve blogged about the birthday of the barcode, and we’ve celebrated the first scanning of a UPC barcode! In keeping with this theme, Gary Stockton, Senior Online Marketing Specialist for Printronix, took us on a walk down memory lane to wish the barcode a happy 60th birthday! Taking us back to Oct. 7, 1952, when the initial patent was issued to Bernard Silver and Norman Woodland, to the present where Printronix now offers solutions to not only print barcodes, but to also read and validate barcode readability and quality.

Check out the full story of the barcode from its inception to  the present and future!
