1Comm: 2014 ScanSource Partner Conference

You can’t sum 1Comm up in 140 characters. Or a hashtag. Or just one word (maybe… wow?) It’s hard to capture the energy of an event like this without sounding like you’re exaggerating.

monday-party-smallJust consider the venue – a posh hotel connected to a world-class convention center, sitting on the edge of the Savannah River, with more hospitality than you’re used to on vacation. Take Monday night’s party for example. Right on the front lawn, just steps from the river, you’ve got heaps of food, exciting conversations and fresh-rolled cigars under a warm southern moon. That happened.

roy-spence-smallGeneral Session was basically a who’s who of industry power players. From ScanSource’s own Rich Long and Mike Ferney to Avaya’s Steranka, Cisco’s McLeod and Polycom’s Artt, these guys are gamechangers. And there they were showing off new products and services, discussing billion dollar opportunities and talking about YOUR topline growth prospects. 50-to-1 odds you won’t find that lineup again anytime soon. And that’s not even counting Roy Spence. He made grown men cry. Nothing short of flat-out-inspiring.

The expo was slam-full of vendor exhibits – practically the entire portfolio of channel opportunities in less than 10,000 square feet. There were breakout sessions for almost any topic you could think of. And the vendor panels were like eavesdropping on elite-level executive strategy sessions. Add to all that the countless impromptu meetings happening in every hallway, and you’ve got one heck of a conference.

Then, BOOM!

There’s the live cannon show at Fort Jackson rocking your world. Think fresh oysters, cold drinks and a Savannah sunset shared by a really great group of peers – the kind of evening that makes you feel pretty good about what you do and how you do it.

If you were there, you know what I mean. And if you weren’t, there’s always next year. Either way, check the app for updates – especially the videos from General Session. You’ll get that grab-the-bull-by-the-horns feeling all over again.
