Whether you found yourself literally floating in the “clouds” at the C2 exhibit or just talking about cloud technology solutions, InfoComm 2018 was an innovative and mind-blowing experience for everyone from exhibitor to end user.

We began our InfoComm 2018 week in typical fashion with a grand party at Top Golf Las Vegas. The neon lights were the perfect Sin City backdrop, while the opportunity to catch up with 300+ partners from all over the country provided a casual yet spirited celebration to kick off the week. Conversations ranged from poor golf swings to new solutions around our nAVigate program and proved why ScanSource networking events are repeatedly among our customers’ “can’t-miss” activities.

Show Floor Fun

As one of 964 exhibitors showcasing the latest technology around ProAV solutions, we couldn’t help but feel excited to be back at InfoComm. Market-leading manufacturers, distributors, and integrators lined the Las Vegas Convention Center halls with unbelievable booths, many as high as the ceiling and wide as retail stores. The show floor was heavy with anticipation, as more than 43,000 (record breaking from the previous time in Vegas) people gathered in the heat of the June desert to talk shop for three full days.

Inside the familiar red and orange booth, visitors had the opportunity to get to know both our brand and team through multiple avenues. From our cookies and ScanSource socks, to Chap Stick and Nike gift cards, InfoComm attendees didn’t leave the booth empty handed. Additionally, we offered free, professional headshots to anyone who came by, and guests could push out their headshot photo immediately to Twitter or LinkedIn for a chance to win $100.

The real takeaway, however, was the valuable time we spent with the InfoComm audience talking about new services, trending technologies, predictions for the hosted space around video, and advising customers on paths to grow their business.

Hot Topics

The topic du jour was our nAVigate program, ScanSource’s newest offering that enables customers to stay ahead of the AV industry’s rapid transition and developments. We showcased AV solutions and outlined steps for our customers to strengthen their relationships with both us and our well-known suppliers.

Attendees mingled and heard about the newest video and conferencing products from our well-known partners at Cisco and Polycom, but also had the opportunity to discover growing partnerships and solutions from some of our smaller, newer vendor lines.

“Our customers, and the InfoComm audience in general, look to ScanSource for guidance in providing total solutions as well as an introduction to new technologies and vendors. InfoComm is a great place to do both,” Joel Douglass, sales manager at ScanSource, said. “Even end users were excited to come by and hear about the new solutions we’re offering and how they can work with their resellers and ScanSource,” Douglass added.

Continuing Education

In addition to networking with anyone and everyone in this space, InfoComm was also an opportunity for us to learn and expand our knowledge through informative educational sessions. We attended classes and breakouts around hiring millennials, AV as-a-service, enterprise trends, buildings and huddle rooms of the future, metrics around UC, and collaborative spaces, just to name a few. With this in mind, we’re excited to bring back this new knowledge and share with our teams as we strive to offer innovative audiovisual solutions that reflect the biggest needs of our customers.

It’s said that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. But in the case of InfoComm 2018 we intend for the relationships made and education gleaned to continue on past the month of June.
