Apply Dealer Pricing in the Catalyst ConfigTool can be accomplished a few different ways. First, by importing a CSV or Catalyst Telecom Subscription file, and second by applying known discount percentage. Both of these procedures are started from the Main Menu from the Help Menu.

From the Main Menu go to Help, then Price Admin.

The Price Administration landing form will explain the different options and what is supported.

Importing Price File

First click on the Import tab.

If you know the file path and name of the file, you can just type it in with either a .csv or .txt suffix. If the file resides in the My Documents directory, then just type the name of file with the .csv or .txt suffix. If the file path or file name is not known, then press the Browse button.

Importing Catalyst Telecom Subscription file (txt)

In the browse window, change the file type to CatalystTelecom Subscription File (*.txt). Browse to the location of the price file, highlight the price file and then press Open.

Since this is a specific format, the options for Part Number Format and Part Number Columns will be disabled. Press the Import button. The import process can take up to several minutes depending on how big your price file is and how fast the computer is.

Importing CSV File

The CSV file format that the ConfigTool uses can be found under the Administration Main Menu under the heading of Export data as CSV. For more information, see the Exporting ConfigTool Database Items post.

Once you press the Browse button from the Import form make certain the File type is set to Comma Delimited File (csv). Then browse for the price file that is going to be imported, highlight the file then press Open.

Once the file is selected, the following fields will have to be filled in:

  • Part Number Format: The default is CatalystTelecom, if the price file being imported is based on manufacturer part numberf then select Manufacturer. If the file is based on both, then the import will have to be completed once for each format.
  • Part Number Column: This specifies what column has the part number in it.
  • Price Items: Dealer Price is needed. If any other price is to be applied, make certain the correct column is inputted and the check box is selected.

If there is not a matching entry in the price file for an item in the ConfigTool database then pricing will not be applied to that item.

Press the Import button when all desired fields have been completed.

The import process can take up to several minutes depending on how big your price file is and how fast the computer is. Once the Import is complete, the Management Interface main menu will load.

Select Exit and Save and then select Yes on the pop up. If you do not select Yes then the import changes will be lost when the ConfigTool is closed.

Applying Percentage Discount

If a percentage discount is applied, it will overwrite any pricing that is in the ConfigTool. If you are going to do a combination of percentage discount and import then apply percentage first then apply the import.

To enter percentage for any Avaya equipment in the ConfigTool, go to the Avaya tab in Price Administration. All other products are located under the All Others tab. The format for the Fields are ##.##, for example 10.49 for 10.49%. If you enter .1049 then this is .1049%.

Once all the desired fields have been filled in, press the Apply Changes button, this will load the Management Main Menu.

Select Exit and Save and then select Yes on the pop up. If you do not select Yes then the import changes will be lost when the ConfigTool is closed.
